A World Tour of Botanical Adventures, Chance Discoveries and Strange Specimens

Award-winning writer and garden historian, Ambra Edwards will relate extraordinary stories of how plants have travelled the world. From Australia’s Botany Bay to theTibetan plateau, from the deserts of South Africa to the jungles of Brazil, she will introduce us to the dedicated scientists and reckless adventurers, men and women, who scoured the world to locate plants that have shaped empires, secured (and destroyed) economies, revolutionized medicine, and advanced our understanding of science.  The talk will be illustrated with botanical artworks from the Kew Gardens archives.
