  • In the 40th anniversary year of Lord Mountbatten's assassination by the IRA author Andrew Lownie takes a fresh look at the lives of Dickie and Edwina Mountbatten. Uncle to Prince Philip Dickie Mountbatten was a major figure in his nephew's marriage to Queen Elizabeth II, while his career included being Supreme Allied Commander of South East Asia during WWII and the last Viceroy of India. His marriage to Edwina, a wealthy socialite, was complex, strewn with numerous affairs. They were an unusual couple, who knew everyone of note in the 20th century. This is their extraordinary story.
