In Victorian Oxford, Charley and Jack pressure fellow student Fancourt to pose as Charley’s aunt Donna Luciafrom Brazil ‘where the nuts come from’. Their purpose? To have a chaperone for a lunch with Amy and Kitty, niece and ward of Stephen Spettigue, at whch they plan to propose marriage. It gets complicated when Fancourt (as Donna Lucia) becomes the marital object of both old Spettigue and Jack’s father Sir Francis Chesney…

William Sydney Penley, the actor, singer and comedian who orginated the role of Charley's aunt, retired to Woking and then to Farnham.
