Note: There are two tours lasting for one hour each, starting at 10.30 and 11.00.

Do something different on Christmas Day Morning 2021 and come for a tour of the Guildford Spike, one of the few remaining New Poor Law buildings to survive and this one is in Guildford.  Have a guided tour and sense the sounds and smells of the Casual Ward, find out what it must have been like to be an Edwardian casual worker, tramp or vagrant on Christmas Day.
Your hour will be followed with complimentary refreshments of mulled wine, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and mince pies with a chance to chat with your fellow visitors and tour guide.

  • Please meet in outside waiting area by the Heritage Centre. The cells were never heated, the tour is authentic, please dress warmly. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
