Saint Saëns' opera Henry VIII combines beautiful melodies and powerful choruses with scenes of intimate psychological drama.

The sexual allure of Anne Boleyn grips both King Henry and the Spanish Ambassador, Don Gomez de Feria.  However, only one man triumphs and the climax of the opera sees Henry set aside a loyal, faithful Queen, overthrow the Papal Legate's decision and declare himself Head of the Church in England.  The fully staged period production is sung is English by award winning Guildford Opera with piano accompaniment and Holy Trinity Church providing an ideal setting for the royal Palaces and Westminster Hall.
