In this lecture London's sporting culture is celebrated from the 12th century to modern times, taking in manuscripts in the British Library, records of jousting and the game of Pall Mall. Simon Inglis looks at the battle for open spaces, the building of specialist sporting facilities and finds out how it changed the lives of people living in the metropolis.
